Client: Advanced Placement Final Project

Categories: Glass Art, Fusing, Molding, Photography, Photo Editing

During high school, I was lucky enough to be introduced to the medium of glass and it has been a lover affair ever since. Glass provides me the opportunity to take my artistic flair to the next level by playing with shapes, light and color in a way that 2D mediums can not compete with. These pieces are from my Advanced Placement project and explore the concept of volume. Each 3 dimensional shape both takes up space and contains space within its boundaries. I wanted my work to show this depth, both separately and as a whole. Sheets of glass and copper were stacked together, melted in a kiln at 900+ degrees and annealed (some fancy science jargon for aligning glass atoms to avoid any stress that will cause breakage), cut, sanded and polished to perfection.
